--Slogan for AC Plug fishing lure Many of the country's bass fishermen suspect that the world-record largemouth is in Castaic Lake waiting to be caught, but Allan Cole is sure of it. He says he almost caught it.
■ LAKE MOHAVE -- Striper action at Willow Beach has picked up this week, with the best success coming with AC plug lures. There have been reports of stripers weighing up to 28 pounds, with the average striper coming in at 12 pounds. Stocked rainbow trout have provided good fishing after weekly plants. Cottonwood Cove has seen striper action. A few 7-pound stripers have been caught in about 40 feet of water while still-fishing. Drift fishing with cut anchovies also has been effective. Night fishing also might yield success with the stripers. Largemouth bass fishing remains slow to fair, with most fish hitting soft plastic baits.
